I just spent the last 3 hours organizing my downloads folder.  A dirty job, but it needed to be done.  Thank goodness for the great mind of Delphy and the Download Organizer, or who knows how long I'd have been sitting here.  It's a ninja program!  I'm glad there are minds out there that are smarter than mine.  I still have a little more organization to do, but I'm happy with where I left off.  I only have a little over a GB of CC, which I understand is a small amount compared to some.

In other simming news, I finally went out and bought Bon Voyage.  It was the only EP I was missing, and I had mixed feelings about getting it, because in reality, I didn't really need a whole slew of other things for my sims to do and collect.  I love the beaches though, and I eventually want to download a mega hood, so I took the plunge.  I haven't played it a whole lot yet.

I also have been working on my Prosperity Challenge neighborhood, Oak Grove.  I had thought I lost it when I got a newer laptop.  I made a copy of the neighborhood and placed it in the neighborhood folder, but when I opened the game, it wouldn't show up.  I figured it was lost and moved on to other, less complicated, non-documented play.  After a few months, I came back to the copied folder and took a closer look.  To my surprise, I found a duplicate folder that didn't belong.  Deleted it, and voila, Oak Grove was back.  I'm working on an update, but it covers two rotations, so it's going to be a little while more before I catch up all the households.

Well, that's all folks.  I'm gonna go crash now.

I have two things happen recently that have me a bit concerned.  I checked the help section over at boolprop, but found nothing so I'm asking here.

Has anyone seen this before? )

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :-)

I have a turn in the Boolprop Round Robin Legacy coming up.  Granted, I'm like sixth or seventh down on the list and probably won't have my generation until July or August or later, but I decided to play some of the families in Desiderata Valley - my assigned neighborhood - so I could get a handle on their personalities and how they interact with each other and get a general feel for the neighborhood.  I've plunked families down there in the past and played them, but never really played the Maxis houses before.

In my mind, I've picked two of the characters as a potential spouse for my turn with the Doran heir depending on the heirs gender preferences.  Anyway, last week, I was playing one of the non-potential spouse houses, and my PS was invited over for a booty call which resulted in a pregnancy.  With a romance sim involved.  Beyond the WTF?! and OMG!! I started thinking maybe I could use this in the future story.  After all, it really was a one night stand.  Neither Sim involved is even at crush status.  My other option would be to replace the neighborhood folder with a new, clean version of Desiderata Valley before it's my turn in the BRRL.  I've got concerns with that option though because I replaced my Strangetown, Pleasantville and Veronaville folders with clean folders (from another user on the computer who never plays the game) and now they're not showing up at all when I open the game to play.  I suppose a third option is to use the "morning after" option that ACR comes with, but I have a real problem with that in RL and just can't bring myself to do it to pixels either.

So, I guess I'm looking for opinions regarding what to do, and to find out what previous authors did in game when a curve ball was thrown their way.  I've got time to figure out more of the story, but I'm nervous about my turn.  I'm following a lot of huge footsteps here.

Also, I know there are cameraman mode hacks out there to help get better pictures.  What exactly do they help with?  What do you use if you use one?  Is there one that is better than the others?

Hi all!  I have an update for my Prosperity Challenge, Oak Grove.

The introductory post can be found here.

It's short, but without further ado... )

Thanks for reading!

So, I decided to start a Prosperity Challenge for myself. The full set of rules can be found here.

In a nutshell... )

That's all.  For now.  :-)

Okay, so, here is a real sim related post. :-)

Chapter 10 of the Doublet Legacy is below the cut for your reading pleasure. At least I hope it's reading pleasure. I tried to upload to Slideshare, but when I tried to check the upload, it kept freezing up my computer. So, after first writing the chapter to try to upload to the borked exchange, and then re-creating it in power point to upload to Slideshare, I present my third attempt.

Part 1 )

This was too big for one post, so part two follows.

Here is the continuation of Chapter 10. It would be helpful if you read Part 1 first. :-)

Part 2 )

Here's my first post for Simscenes.  A little late.  It's my first posting.  I don't consider my picture taking and staging a strong point, so hopefully they're o.k.  :)

Haunting, Acceptance, Money )

I finally have uploaded a few pictures to share from the Potpals.

Generation Six has arrived. )

I've finally managed to get the time and effort to correspond in my life enough to get Chapter Four of my Potpal Legacy out.

When I get bored playing my families, I start to build.  I finally found a website with plans that seemed easily converted, and created my first home.  It's uploaded on the exchange here: http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/lot_detail.php?asset_id=770044

On a 5x5 lot.  There is a basement, but most of it is not finished.  There are three rooms in the basement, plus a bathroom.  Main level contains one master bedroom with a bathroom, library, music room, living area, kitchen, dining, rec room and another bathroom.  Second level has the second master bedroom with it's own bath, two more bedrooms, a large nursery, and another bathroom.  There is a front porch and a back porch.  I didn't furnish it.  Wanted to keep the cost down.

It's my first real non-box house, and I kind of like it.  I haven't play tested it yet though.

Just wanted to share. :)

Well, I've joined the live journal simming crowd.  I've lurkily read many of the outtakes from boolprop members, and decided that i should finally get an account so i can comment here as well.

So, I went through and added a bunch of people as my friends.  Hope no one minds.  I'm not sure how much I'll actually blog, or add from the game, but I wanted the option anyway.

I'm really unfamiliar with live journal too, so I'm sure it will take me awhile to learn how to navigate around and discover the other features available.
